Tantillo was born in Poughkeepsie, NY and grew up in New Paltz. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1969 with a degree in architecture. He is known for his meticulously rendered historical and marine paintings. His goal in painting is to recapture scenes from New York’s past utilizing his expansive architectural and archeological expertise. His paintings are in museums and private and corporate collections. He is a member of the American Society of Maine Artists.
