Ephemera from Jeremiah Funchess, UAlbany First Year Student, Fall Semester 2020

1. My mom gave me this wallet in the eighth grade for my birthday and although I don’t use it, it just reminds me of the old days back in middle school.

2. This is one of my favorite chains, I’ve had it for two years. My grandma gave it to me as a random gift during the summer.

3. This bracelet was the first item I ever got at my high school as a freshman. On Fridays we would wear pink the entire month of October.

4. This was my employee badge from my very first job. I worked there for about a year until Covid-19 began. Then the store closed and didn’t reopen until recently.

5. My girlfriend got me this keychain when she went to Disney World. She gave it to me before I left. Her name is Fanny, so that’s what the “F” is for.

6. This is the obituary for my grandmother, who passed away last October. I was super close to her and I went through a rough time after she died. This is one of the few pictures I have of her.

7. This is my old dog’s chain. My dog died when I was in eighth grade, her name was Diamond. She was 14 years old, and we were the same age when she died. She was the best dog ever.

8. My girlfriend gave me this last Christmas. There was this joke that it’s not a stocking, it’s my sock that I’m supposed to wear.

9. In my senior year of high school I participated in the New York State wrestling tournament and I wore this nametag for the entire weekend because it was the only way I could get into the building.

10. This is a picture of me and one of my closest friends, Herick. We played football together since we were freshman and were co-captains of the varsity team junior and senior year. This was taken at our senior homecoming.

11. This was the medal I received when I went to the NYS wrestling tournament last year and I placed eighth in the state, being the third person in my high school history to ever become all-state.

12. I stole this from my brother before I left for no particular reason, just to get under his skin, I guess.

13. I got these matching bracelets for my girlfriend and me for Valentines this year. I pretty much wear it anytime I go out.

14. This was the hotel room key for when I wrestled at the NYS wrestling tournament. It was a crazy weekend and I took a lot of souvenirs. I don’t really know why I kept this one.

15. This is the first watch I ever owned. My mom bought it for me at a Big Lots after I had gotten three shots at a doctor’s appointment.

16. This is the tassel to my cap and gown from high school.
